August Target Haul (And It’s All Under $50 WTF)

I’ve been trying to get into a healthy routine lately with my sleeping habits: asleep by 11:30, awake by 8:15. It’s been a rough go, but each day my alarm goes off, I’m getting better and better about snoozing and this morning, I had something radically important thrusting me out of bed: A TARGET RUN, because a Target run to stock up on fall sweaters is truly the bandaid of 2020.

I think I’ve only been to Target once or twice since March, but Fashion Jackson’s haul inspired me to mask up and venture out because what doesn’t a Target run cure (besides COVID and cancer and other various important things)? Because you can’t try-on in stores right now, it was a bit of a crap shoot and I was fully prepared to return most of it when I got home and actually put it on but the opposite of that happened. I loved it all so much, I want MORE. I got every piece of clothing you’re about to see for under $50 and feel wildly confident about this haul. I’ve included details and sizing below if it helps your inevitable run after browsing my finds, but feel free to reach out if you have more questions!

A NEW DAY: SWEATERS

Get every color of this sweater. I give you permission. They’re so great that I got them in 3 colors (as you can see). They’re the perfect mock neck pullovers with slightly dolman sleeves, look super chic, and are SO soft. They do run a big, though, so I’d suggest going down a size (I took an XS).

JEANS (Topshop) | BOOTIES (Marc Fisher)

UNIVERSAL THREAD: SHIRTS + A SWEATER

Universal Thread is simply the best. The price-weary Madewell-lover’s dream, tbh. The long sleeve shirts are $10 each (!!!) and slightly ribbed. Also important to note: they’re slim fit. I took a small, but if you like more room, definitely suggest going up a size! I love the form-fitting simplicity of these tees.

The grey v-neck tee is even cheaper at just $8 a pop, and the quality is fantastic. I’m not big on buying cheap tees from Target and the like, but this one had me at HELLOOOOOO. It also comes in a shit ton of colors, so take your time browsing and deciding! I went with grey to be safe, but I’ll be ordering more.

Lastly, the cutest little sweater. UGH, I love this one so much. Small stitches of multicolor stripes is truly what makes me excited to get dressed in the morning. AND! It’s on clearance for $14. I took an XS in this, as it runs big.

JEANS (Madewell) | SNEAKERS (Reebok)

A close-up of this sweater because it’s just too good.

COLSIE: OVERSIZED STRIPE TEE

So this is technically a lounge tee, but since the line between loungewear and real clothes has been blurred since approx March 11th-ish, we don’t follow rules anymore. This tee is so soft and can be worn untucked, tied into a knot, or even as a french tuck. I can easily see it with jeans and a cute jacket come fall time! It’s just a great casual tee, IMO. It’s very oversized, so I took the XS!

SHORTS (Abercrombie) | SNEAKERS (Reebok)

STARS ABOVE: PJ SHORTS SET

I. FUCKING. MEAN. This is the softest shit I’ve ever put on my body, for real. It comes in light grey, dark grey, and then a striped situation that’s also very cute. It feels like butter against the skin, so the fact that it’s also a flattering, flirty sleepwear look is a bonus. I took a medium in the bottoms and a small in the top!

SLIPPERS (Amazon)

THE LIP BAR: “UNIMPRESSED”

Y’all know I love The Lip Bar lipsticks. They stay on, are vibrant, vegan, owned and created by a Black woman, and only $13. I currently own Bawse Lady and Hot Mama, and just purchased Unimpressed today for a more everyday, neutral/pink lip. Needless to say, I love it.

CANDLES & HOME

Is it even a Target run if you didn’t get a few candles? My three favorite candle scents in the world are amber, bergamot, and patchouli—no shit. So when I saw this Project 62 number, I had to grab it. Also, I love how it’s a low, wide candle instead of your typical tall container. Adds a little something to it.

I also grabbed this small Cardamom & Vetiver candle from Magnolia Homes because the scent was just too amazing. I like having a few smaller candles around the house for, say, a guest bathroom, my bathtub, side table, etc.

Lastly, I spotted this 3-piece mixing bowl set on an end cap and grabbed them for my man as he needs some (read: I need them for when I cook at his place). I LOVE the color scheme: black, white, and grey. Plus, they were $8?! Incredible.

Pretty good run, right?! I’m so happy with it, besides those amazing first three sweaters not being available online just yet. But like I said, I’m watching it closely for y’all and will scream from the mountaintops when they’re there. In the meantime, happy Target run to you and yours. May you find what you need, what you want, and what you never knew you needed or wanted.
