The Sherpa Jacket of the Season

Every once in a while, a fall/winter jacket comes along that stops you in your tracks. When we were in Maine last month, we happened upon a very nice clothing store. The men’s offerings were the star of the show, so I did not plan on looking at their women’s selection until I saw a girl in the store walk by with this jacket.

She was carrying on to her boyfriend about how she loved it and how much she didn’t want to love it because she couldn’t necessarily afford to love it, but she needed it. She had such a reaction that I immediately went on the hunt to look for it within the store. Then I found it, put it on, loved it, Zac loved it, and I was like “All right, well. I get it now.”

It’s the perfect layering piece for fall and winter, especially if you live in a place with warmer winters (like this girl). It’s rare in Dallas that you need a super heavy fall or winter coat, so a sherpa jacket like this one is ideal. What I love most about it is the corduroy detailing on the pockets, collar, and trimming. I just love how it adds another texture to the jacket and makes it a bit more interesting than just a straight up sherpa jacket.

I almost always take a small in jackets and coats because they tend to run larger, and that was the case with this one, too! The small fits great and is roomy enough for a long sleeve t-shirt or lightweight sweater underneath. If you’re wanting to wear this Alex Mill sherpa jacket over a thick sweater, maybe size up! Either way, it’s the best.
