14 Functional, Fashionable Gifts For Men

Welcome to 6 days of gift guides. Starting Friday, November 20 to Wednesday, November 25, I will be dropping a new gift guide. They’ll cover everything from the little things to the big things and everything in between. Please remember that just because these guides are labeled doesn’t mean they’re ONLY for that particular person in your life. These guides do not discriminate. They are non-binary. Anything you see across these six guides can be gifted to your mom, dad, sister, friend, boyfriend, fiance, aunt, uncle, mother-in-law, father-in-law—the list goes on. Take the labels with a grain of salt, and buy what feels right for the right person!

  1. Cool art from Society6

When in serious doubt, think of their favorite musicians, bands, TV shows, movies, etc. and search for art of it on Society6. I GUARANTEE you’ll find something perfectly suitable for your man whether it’s in the form of an art print, phone case, shower curtain, or tapestry (unless you try searching for Grateful Dead stuff. For some reason, none exists on there).

  2. Topo Chico candle

You guys might remember me posting about one of my follower’s making and selling candles in repurposed Topo Chico bottles. Grabbing one (or a few) of these this holiday season is a stellar gift idea, especially for the men in your life who love the beverage but aren’t really into traditional candle vessels. They smell so good (I can attest) and look awesome, too. DM @nicelygarica to set up an order now (her name is Nicole)!

  3. Chef's Apron

Perhaps they need a cool ass apron? I shared one for the ladies on my home gift guide, but love this one as much for the men (or ladies). For just $25, this canvas cotton chef’s apron comes in 6 colors (I LOVE the green), and features three different pockets for phone storage and so much more. Oh, and it’s machine washable which we all know is vitally important.

  4. Grey Joggers

This is your one shot to gift your man grey sweatpants, so don’t fuck it up. The lululemon ones are perfect and so comfortable, he’ll most likely naturally love them and wear them all the time, which is really great news for you and your eyes.

  5. Chef’s Knife

Know a dude who loves to cook or is trying to learn? The most important tool for a chef is his knife, and this one from Williams Sonoma is rated #1 across the board. It’s the Wüsthof Classic 8-Inch Chef’s Knife, and it slices, dices, chops, and probably wounds if need be.

  6. The Multi-Tool

Don’t be a tool; use a tool. What dude doesn’t love a multi-tool catchall like this piece from Leatherman? It’s 17 IN ONE: Needlenose pliers, regular pliers, premium replaceable wire cutters, premium replaceable hard-wire cutters, electrical crimper, wire stripper, 420HC Knife, 420HC Serrated Knife, saw, awl w/ thread loop, ruler (8 in | 19 cm), can opener, bottle opener, wood/metal file, phillips screwdriver, large screwdriver, and a small screwdriver. I literally don’t even know what half of those are, and *I* want one.

  7. Memory Foam Travel Pillow

Upgrade your man’s/brother’s/dad’s/dad-in-law’s airplane sleeping game with this chic as hell travel pillow. It’s made of memory foam and wraps snuggly around the back of their neck to offer some support and comfort. Ergonomic design and adjustable hook-and-loop closure is the word.

  8. Herschel Travel Bag

The best and only travel bag a man needs. This Herschel duffel is so roomy, and even comes with their signature shoe compartment for extra storage. Plus, the material itself (down to the zippers!) is waterproof. It’s a very stylish but functional bag he’ll be grateful for!

  9. Madewell Long Sleeve T-Shirts

I don’t mean to brag, but my boyfriend did let me shop for him a few weeks ago and we did order all the following from Madewell and it is all fantastic. I’ve realized long sleeve t-shirts are hard for everyone, but these basic ones from Madewell are perfect. We got all three colors, and the fit is fantastic. Buy one each for all the men in your life! Who can argue a basic long sleeve t-shirt?

  10. Madewell Chore Jacket

By now, you’ve probably heard of the shacket (the shirt+jacket). This is Madewell’s version, but they call it a chore jacket and I’m here for it. It looks so good unopened with a white, grey, black, any color t-shirt underneath. The man loves it and I do, too. Also it’s wool so it’s a fantastic layering piece of winter!

  11. Madewell Sweater

Lastly, this adorable pullover sweater that comes in a gorgeous honey mustard, grey, winter green, and a light blue. The fucking donegal flecks get me every time, and it fits true to size (according to my boyfriend anyway).

  12. Everlane Boxer Briefs

Men (and women, honestly) always need more underwear and these boxer briefs from Everlane are so straightforward and look insanely comfortable. Might just get some for my guy so I can wear them when I forget comfy clothes. Anyway, you can get 2 for $28, so why not treat his package to something nice this Christmas?

  13. Record Player with Speakers

If your man or brother or dad doesn’t have a record player and has mentioned wanting one, may I suggest this guy? The color is beautiful, the knobs are so cool, and it comes with speakers WHICH is a rarity. Save them from having to figure out an entirely separate speaker system by gifting them this cool and very aesthetically pleasing record player with speakers instead.

  14. Everlane catch-all

Every dude needs a solid dop kit, and I love this one from Everlane. Please ignore that it’s labeled as WOMEN’S because dop kits are non-binary. It’s available in 5 colors, and features five interior drop-in pockets and one exterior zip pocket, making it perfect for organizing small things. It’s also designed to snap down for compact travel, and it’s made from 100% recycled polyester! All good things.
