How To Treat Summer Bikini Line Breakouts

Unless you’re an incredibly #blessed person, you are more than likely familiar with the pain and embarrassment associated with bikini line breakouts. For me personally, my undercarriage (yes, I just wrote that) packs A LOT of heat. How I got so lucky to have such an easily overheated, sweaty crotch, I don’t know but it’s my reality and it gets about 200x worse in the summer. This makes sense as I spend the months of May-August stuffing myself into form-fitting bodysuits, jean shorts that hug me in the right places but keep my nether region tightly restricted, and admittedly, I’ve never been the best at changing out of sweaty workout clothes ASAP. All this = treacherous and honestly offensive bikini line (AND BUTT CHEEK) breakouts. If you’ve ever found yourself asking how do I get rid of bikini line breakouts, you’ve come to the right place.

RECENT POST COVERS (23).png

I decided to reach out to you guys last month to crowdsource what the fuck I and we can do to combat this unwanted ailment and, as always, y’all delivered. It’s wild that I trust you guys more than an actual dermatologist, but that’s 2021 and social media for ya, am I right? How this blog post is going to work is first, I’m going to share what you guys suggested to me then, I will share what I already use and which suggestions I’ve taken thus far! Sound good? Okay, let’s bust these summer bikini line breakouts once and for fucking all because that shit ain’t cute.

WHAT Y'ALL SAID

Y’all gave us a lot of options. A lot. I’m not sure I can go through each of them, especially because you only have so many characters in the IG box so I didn’t get full explanations for all of these, so I’m going to leave them here and let you all explore. There’s everything from powders and soaps to butt masks, pads, and scrubs. For what it’s worth, one reader wrote in to take a blow dryer to that area for 10 seconds to achieve maximum dryness since bacteria loves moisture. I’m not sure if I’m on board with pointing a hot tool at my vag, but if you’re up for it, BY ALL MEANS!

This is such a good, extensive list of products and I’m truly tempted to try them all. I’ve definitely used Gold Bond, Tend Skin, and tons of Megababe, so I can attest to those. The biggest cause of bikini line and butt cheek breakouts is moisture and heat which create bacteria, so that’s what we’re trying to get rid of. Do some clicking and reading then meet me past this grid of pictures to learn what I’m currently using to combat bikini line breakouts!

What I use

Like I said up there, I’ve been using Megababe. In fact, I’ve been using the Thigh Rescue anti-friction stick for three years now! I absolutely swear by it. So much so, that I just bought myself a mini version to keep in whichever purse I’m using because, let me tell you—when you’re out and about on a hot summer day, rocking a pair of short shorts, a summer dress, or even a skirt, having Megababe’s mini Thigh Rescue stick on your person is a literal day and chafing saver.

With that recent order, I also went ahead and got the Le Tush butt mask and am so pumped to see what it does. I used it for the first time last night and plan to again this week! The Megababe Le Tush is formulate with three acids: glycolic, malic, and azelaic, all of which work to combat bacteria and breakouts. They instruct you to use this product 2-3 times a week, depending on bad your booty bumps be. You simply apply it to dry and clean butt cheeks, let it sit there for up to three minutes, massage it in a circular motion, then either rinse it off with a washcloth or just hop into the shower! It smells like a dream, too. Please do your work, Le Tush. For my booty and booties everywhere.

I also bought the Neutrogena Salicylic Acid Rapid Clear Pads because, for just a few bucks, you get a lot of pads and it’s an easy product to test drive. I’ve been very gently wiping it over my bikini line and then my butt cheeks for a few days no and plan to continue this method all summer to treat butt cheek and bikini line breakouts.

This is sort of off topic, but since we’re discussing breakouts, I wanted to let you guys know that after seeing my dermatologist today about my facial skin concerns, she told me to grab a bottle of Differin (which was suggested and a part of this list!) and use it a few times a week to help my mild breakouts and the keratosis pilaris that has crept onto my jawline. Sort of nervous because it’s a type of retinoid, which I’ve never used on myself so I’m going to start slow and see how it goes.

Last thing in regards to butt cheek breakouts. I’ll have you all know that I took a very close-up picture of my butt as it is now and fully plan on sharing a comparison in a little while if any of these methods work. I also foresee myself ordering a few more of the suggestions you guys provided as summer carries on, and my situation becomes more and more dismal. But I’m hoping that’s not the case.

I hope this helps you in some way, and if you have anything to add, please drop a comment! We love comments.
