My Super Simple, Everyday Makeup
I’m not trying to brag, but contouring and highlighting frighten me. I have no idea how to do it, so I’ve stayed far, far away from it. Plus, as high maintenance as I am with my overall emotionality, I’m equally as low maintenance with my “getting ready” routine so the less steps I have to perform to look decent, the better! Therefore, my everyday makeup routine is incredibly simplified and I like it that way. Actually, my daytime and nighttime makeup routine is the exact same save for maybe the addition of an eyeshadow, eyeliner, or a little extra blush (I’m wild, I know).
My everyday makeup consists of 6-9 steps, depending on the day (I’m leaving room for a few extra eyebrow things and lipstick, obviously). But my daily six no matter what are: Foundation, concealer, blush, setting powder, eyebrow stuff, and mascara. I’m gonna make this real simple on y’all and show you the six products I use almost any time I wear makeup (in the exact order I apply them), then list a few extras and my favorite lipsticks because honestly lipstick is the most important part of tying any look together (especially for nighttime).
MY DAILY 6
For what it’s worth, I use this foundation brush from Sephora to apply my face and love it. It goes on super smoothly and is a find by my own mother, Ellen!
Now, when I’m feeling extra crazy, I sometimes use this brow flick pen from Glossier to make my eyebrows look even more insane. And, if it’s nighttime makeup time, this highlighter stick is from the gods. Like, I feel like a vision when I wear it which isn’t very often—just trying to keep myself humble.
Lastly, lipsticks. I’ve tried so many over the years and am proud to say I feel I’ve really narrowed it down to what I consider to be the best of the best:
For a true red, Jungle Red by NARS and Hot Mama by The Lip Bar
For a wine, Rebel by MAC and Bawse Lady by The Lip Bar
For a deep, vibrant pink, Girl About Town by MAC
For a light, carnation pink, On Hold by MAC
For a pink nude, Pillow Talk by Charlotte Tilbury
For a lip liner, Pillow Talk by Charlotte Tilbury
For the cheapest, brightest, best lip color ever, the green lipstick from Amazon
Wow. That honestly felt so good to get off my chest, guys. Thanks for being interested enough to request a blog post about it all. This has been my no bullshit, daily makeup rundown, and I hope you’ve found it somewhat helpful. If you buy into any of these things and love them, let me know! Not if you hate them, though. I don’t care about that.
xox,
