15 Gifts Worth Splurging On This Year

Welcome to 6 days of gift guides. Starting Friday, November 20 to Wednesday, November 25, I will be dropping a new gift guide. They’ll cover everything from the little things to the big things and everything in between. Please remember that just because these guides are labeled doesn’t mean they’re ONLY for that particular person in your life. These guides do not discriminate. They are non-binary. Anything you see across these six guides can be gifted to your mom, dad, sister, friend, boyfriend, fiance, aunt, uncle, mother-in-law, father-in-law—the list goes on. Take the labels with a grain of salt, and buy what feels right for the right person!

  1. Snooz: The best white noise machine

Some of you are normal people who can sleep normally in normal conditions. But most of you, if I had to guess, are weirdos like me who cannot sleep in silence. Be it an app or fan, I need something to lull me to sleep. This white noise machine is perfect. Fun fact: It was a Kickstarter project that my sister donated to and now it’s a real thing! It’s such a simple machine and dispenses the best, most subtle yet effective white noise. I seriously can’t recommend it enough!

  2. Theragun

This is the splurge of all splurges. Okay, maybe not but it’s pretty intense. I was skeptical about the Theragun craze but, once again, my sister jumped on the bandwagon before I did (are you noticing a pattern here?) and I got to try it in Chicago a few weeks ago. It’s fantastic. If someone you know is an intensely active person who always has sore muscles or suffers from body pain that could be solved by some intense, self-inflicted massage therapy with a Theragun, get them this. They will be forever indebted to you.

  3. Vitamix

Another craze I was skeptical about, but YET AGAIN, tried my sister’s in Chicago and was blown away by the power of this thing. It blends shit so fast, guys. What the hell? Smoothies, soups, and all in large ass batches, too. OH AND it’s self-cleaning with a little bit of water and dish soap. I don’t know—I think it’s worth it and want one.

  4. Standing desk

God knows how long we’ll be working from home. Remember back in March when we were like “We’ll be back to normal by May!” LOL. Anyway, getting this desk for my little at-home office was overdue and a total game changer. I put it together myself, and it’s truly been a treasure. Plus it’s 10000x more affordable than a custom desk. Treat yourself or an ambitious ass family member in dire need of it.

  5. Shark cordless vacuum

Just like Dyson but a fraction of the cost! Listen, my boyfriend has the Dyson version of this and while it’s a nice vacuum, do I think it’s worth fucking $500, $600? NO. I have a Shark vacuum and have for 6 years. I love the brand, so this cordless option is a no-brainer to me. If someone in your life asked for a vacuum glow-up this year, this is it.

  6. Solo stove

Another sister-researched piece that is incredible (props to you, @algolden). This is the perfect outdoor fire. I don’t know what else to say about it besides that. It looks nice, it heats up nice, it doesn’t get SUPER smoky and drench your clothes in that smell (also depends on what wood you use, so take that into consideration), and THEY’RE DOING A 30% OFF SALE THROUGH BLACK FRIDAY. Don’t think too hard about this one—if you’ve been jonesing for a fire pit setup outside, go for it. Er, I mean, get it for a friend or family member for the holidays (I’ve lost sight of this being a gift guide).

  7. Maison Louis Marie Perfume

If this was truly a splurge item, I guess I would tell you to get the real deal, I.e. Le Labo’s Santal 33. And if you want to splurge and spend that money, be my guest! But if you don’t and want the same scent for way less, Maison Louis Marie No. 4 is that dupe. It’s so fresh, so clean with a hint of musk and very natural. There’s got to be someone in your life who has expressed interest in this scent and, if so, surprise them with their own bottle!

  8. Rug Source rug

Probably the number one most asked DM I get is “Where is that rug from?!” My two biggest rugs that dwell in my bedroom and living room are both from Rug Source. Sketchy ass name? 100%. One-of-a-kind, super high quality rugs? Also yes. Their rug selection is VAST but also unique, so no two rugs are alike. You can filter them by how old they are, color, type, etc. It’s an amazing site and the only place I’ve invested in 100% authentic Persian rugs.

  9. Sierra Winter Good Lookin' Hoops

The perfect, mid-size gold hoop. The everyday gold hoop. The only hoop that matters. I wear these almost every day, and I know that whoever is lucky enough to get them as a gift from you will be forever grateful. Use code EMMASTHING for 10% off your order!

  10. Ring Concierge Herringbone bracelet

This is another piece I wear every. single. day. Literally, I never take it off. It’s 14k solid yellow gold, so you can shower, swim, and sex in it without a second thought. I bought it for myself back in March as a “YOU’RE GOING FREELANCE, BABY” present and haven’t taken it off since. For those interested, I got the 3mm and 7.5 inch length. Ring Concierge has so many stunning jewelry pieces, so take a second to look around while you’re there!

  11. The Marc Fisher booties

All I’m saying is these have been on sale lately at Nordstrom, but Nordstrom can be a fickle bitch so if they’re not in stock when you click this link, try the root of the source! Regardless, they are 100% worth it. These were one of my splurge purchases this year after years of pining after them and I don’t regret it. They are the PERFECT bootie. The height of both the heel and the bootie itself, the look, the comfort. They are a home run, so treat yourself or a deserving someone to them this Christmas!

  12. Gucci Ophidia small shoulder bag

A year ago on Halloween I was in New York City in the Gucci store, buying myself my first ever designer bag. It took 32 years for me treat myself to this bag, and boy was it worth the splurge. I am fully obsessed with this print from Gucci—the red and green stripe is just… perfect. I’m also in love with this version. Anyway, the point is, if you’re ready to splurge on a designer bag this Christmas for you or for someone else, this is my choice.

  13. Lunya Silk Robe

I almost bought this for myself instead of the aforementioned Ring Concierge bracelet back in March. It’s so gorgeous and luxurious to slip on at night or in the morning (or wear it all day). I love the cuffed sleeves so you don’t have to constantly get them out of your way, and the fact that it comes in so many colors. Most importantly, though, IT’S WASHABLE SILK. Obsessed.

  14. Lunya Silk Sleep Set

And if that’s not enough, there’s also this gorgeous and sweet sleep set. So silky and sexy and soft. Treat your sister, mom, or best friend to a set to ensure maximum beauty sleep!

  15. Girlfriend Long Puffer Coat

This is a last minute add, as Girlfriend JUST DROPPED a whole line of outerwear not moments ago. Their entire site is 30% off through December 1, which is the greatest gift any of us could ask for. A few years ago, I got Everlane’s version of this long puffer coat and still love it so much. But obviously, I now wish I had the Girlfriend one because I imagine it’s even better. Give someone this amazingly warm and stylish gift this season!
