The Ultimate Gift Guide for Curly Hair (2023)

If I was going to write blurbs and explanations for at least one guide this year, this is the one. Enjoy shopping for your curly-haired friends and family members (or adding these products to your own list)!

I personally have the Dyson Supersonic, but the Dyson Airwrap came out with a separate diffuser attachment this year that my favorite hair-flunecer Manes by Mell uses, and it looks just as efficient if not moreso. You can’t go wrong either way!

There are tons of microfiber towels out there for curly hair, but I’ve been using the Devacurl towel for YEARS and find it to be perfect.

Every curly girl needs a set of these professional hair clips to hold her curls in place as she diffuses or as she sleeps. They are super handy and can be used in a multitude of ways!

I’ve had a lot of luck with this foam by X Mondo. It smells great, offers light yet efficient hold, and a little goes a long way!

There is no gel like Uncle Funky’s Daughter Curl Stimulator. I’ve tried hundreds and nothing compares!

They say curly girls can’t use foaming shampoo, but it’s a lie. I love Curl Talk Shampoo and Conditioner and use both every shower I take!

The New Wash by Hairstory is meant to be used as a non-foaming shampoo, but I like to use it as a leave-in cream. A fingertip amount goes a LONG way when using it as cream.

I love the smell of Aveda’s botanical line. I use this leave-in as soon as I get out of the shower and work it through my curls with a comb.

Curly girls need all the moisture they can get, and this overnight serum by Aveda is incredible. It truly hydrates your curls overnight while they sleep under your bonnet, and you awake with shiny ringlets!

Having a good hair oil to “scrunch out the crunch” is a non-negotiable, and Moroccan Oil is my tried and true.

There are endless silk bonnet options to choose from. I have a few, but like this one the most, especially because it’s adjustable. You should have the ability to make your bonnet as loose or tight as you want overnight!

You never want to apply styling products to dry or even just damp hair. To get it soaking wet, use a continuous spray bottle so you can douse your hair quickly and efficiently as you style!

These are the only hair ties I’ll use overnight to put my hair into a “pineapple” on top of my head and preserve the curls. They are tight yet stretchy and always leave my curls looking good and unharmed. You just have to wrap it once for maximum hold!

The 7 Row Denman brush is helpful to define curls and work products through your hair. I highly suggest watching Manes by Mell’s YouTube videos to learn how she utilizes this brush!
